EVENTS
Through a series of marquee events in partnership with high-profile, international visual artists, Circle Up Now will catalyze a viral expression of solidarity through live events and an online social action networking community.
Our human aerial art images will represent a standard forum for nonviolent declaration with which to take an ongoing stand on the urgent issues currently facing the world. These events are designed to inspire change from the top down but empower people from the bottom up.
In 2008, Circle Up Now launched with "A Global Day Of Action", in partnerniship with Amnesty International. "A Global Day of Action" produced over 24 human aerial art images in 24 hours in countries all over the world, creating images of light and hope to counter the dark realities of human rights violations that are taking place every day.
Other events in 2008 called attention to the global food crisis, civil rights and world peace; as well as honoring Nelson Mandela on his 90th birthday; a 40th anniversary memorial tribute for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. honoring local civil and economic rights heroes in Memphis, Tennessee; and celebrated the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Our inaugural year event partners included: Amnesty International, The Elders, ActionAid, NAACP - Memphis, The National Civil Rights Museum, AFSCME Local 1733, SCLC, Southwest Tennessee Community College and Twenty Thousand Drums.
